Kumpul coworking space aims to be the leading creative hub in Indonesia. It is a professional work space and platform for building and growing communities and businesses.
At Kumpul you can find all the facilities of a modern office as well as a community of freelancers and consultants. Our members have access to the space 24/7, all year. Additionally, we regularly host skill sharing sessions as well as social functions for community building, making sure all members get a chance to get to know each other on a personal level.
The idea of Kumpul started long before the founders knew there was a term called coworking space–and long before it was a business. Their idea of a creating something like a coworking space started back when they were doing international humanitarian and NGO work throughout Africa and Middle East.
While working in the field, the concepts of office and community was tightly integrated. Different professions and profiles were working closely together and the organizational structure was fairly flat.
After leaving the field to build a family, they came home to a work in a culture where they noticed that there was a disconnection between consultants who wanted the freedom and flexibility of location independency, yet still have access to a comfortable and reliable place to work. They also noticed that these consultants and freelancers desired to belong to a community whether it be for networking or social purposes.
More generally, when moving to a new area, it can be challenging to join and integrate the local networks and communities. Being a couple who moved around a lot, they faced this challenge many times and had a dream to create an office space where they could work independently–together. When they finally had the opportunity to create it, we chose the name Kumpul, which means “to gather” or “to be together” in Indonesian.
They created Kumpul as a professional workspace with a “homey” feeling and mixed community. We truly believe that diversity with integration is the key to a thriving community. In Kumpul there is a very good balance of international and national members as well as an even distribution of genders.
Through nurturing the ideal environment for the growth of entrepreneurship and social innovation, Kumpul is their way to contribute to the development of Bali and Indonesia.
